Background

Since 1994, iNEMI (the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative) has been developing a bi-yearly technical roadmap spanning a ten-year horizon.  The North American kick-off meeting has always served as the formal start of the roadmap cycle.  This 1½ day meeting will serve as the formal kickoff of the 2011 iNEMI Roadmap with presentations by the PEG Chairs and planning and cross cut sessions followed by informal presentations by each of the TWGs represented.  We also plan to use WebEx for all of the combined meetings and presentations so that participants that can’t travel can attend remotely.

The morning of the first day of this meeting will showcase the PEGs (Product Emulator Groups) emulators and highlight changes from 2009.  The afternoon of the first day the TWGs will meet to formulate their responses to the highlighted emulators, discuss plans for developing cross cutting relationships with other TWGs and review non-North American recruiting status.  The morning of the second day the TWGs will be asked for a short report out on their plans for 2011.  The meeting will close at noon so that attendees may catch afternoon flights.

Objectives

Objectives of this meeting are:

  • Review the iNEMI PEG emulators for 2011 and highlighted changes from 2009
  • Build on and increase participation/leadership from 2009
  • Develop cross cutting relationships between TWGs
  • Connect participants with appropriate TWG Chairs for 2011

Intended audience

  • PEG/TWG Chairs for the 2011 iNEMI Roadmap cycle
  • Representatives from industry, institutes, universities, other associations and government interested in participating in the roadmap
  • Electronics industry leaders looking for information about the iNEMI 2011 Roadmap process before expressing interest in participation for 2011

Benefits of participation

PEG Chairs will have the opportunity to present their 2011 emulators and highlight any changes from 2009.  TWG Chairs will have the opportunity to see and hear the PEG presentations and begin formulating their responses to those issues as well as beginning the development of cross cutting relationships with other TWGs.  Attendees that are simply investigating whether they should participate in some way will have the opportunity to interact with key technology and business leaders, as well as iNEMI Staff, and ask questions that are important to their decision making process.

Participation on the 2011 Roadmap will help you gain insight into the likely future direction of the Electronics industry by helping to identify technology and business gaps.  This collaboration can influence the strategy and investments of your company as it considers its future plans for technology and supply chain initiatives.
