Meeting background

  • Providing eco-environmental impact information is becoming a requirement when companies go to market with their products and services. Within our industry we share a common need and also a common supply chain, such that the methodologies, data, and best practices can be collectively shared on a non-competitive basis.
  • The opportunity is here to develop common methodologies to more easily evaluate and derive eco-environmental impact information on products within our industry.
  • A project to address non-competitive lifecycle assessments for ICT products based on a building block approach using assembly emulators was proposed at the iNEMI Sustainability Summit (September 2008), and has been approved by the iNEMI Board of Directors. The project will focus on lifecycle assessment methodologies that will enable more efficient derivation of eco-environmental impact information based on commonalities within parts, materials, and lifecycle stages, relative to the needs and requirements being defined within our industry and standards organizations.

Meeting Objectives

  • Determine industry support for executing the project.
  • Begin the development of a Statement of Work (SOW) for the project.

Who Should Participate

  • OEMs, ODMs and EMS providers
  • Universities
  • LCA consultants

Benefits of Participation

The purpose of this meeting is to set the priorities and direction for evaluating non-competitive lifecycle assessments for ICT products based on a building block approach using assembly emulators. Your participation will allow you to help establish this agenda for the electronics industry.
