This symposium brings together a diverse group of leaders from the information and communication technology (ICT) supply chain to address industry-driven global environmental initiatives. The two-day event will focus on issues related to "low halogen" electronics (defined as having brominated flame retardants (BFRs), chlorinated flame retardants (CFRs) and/or PVC below 900ppm). Discussions will cover the impact of these changes on the electronics manufacturing supply chain, including material availability, cost and reliability. The agenda also includes such topics as the lead-free transition, lifecycle assessment for ICT equipment, and carbon footprinting. The symposium will feature a broad range of perspectives from leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), original design manufacturers (ODMs), electronics manufacturing services (EMS) providers, substrate and PCB manufacturers, materials suppliers, government agencies and NGOs.
Symposium goals
- Share information about HFR-free technology and other environmental issues
- Provide a forum to discuss concerns about BFR/CFR/PVC-free materials, and identify opportunities to address these concerns
- Continue the process of industry alignment on common solutions to implement new materials
